West Virginia’s prior authorization law mandates health insurers to require that prior authorization forms, including any related communication, be submitted via an electronic portal no later than July 1, 2024.
Fax prior authorization submissions are being phased out by Clinical Services. Providers are required to use the Availity® portal to electronically submit authorization requests, attach documentation, respond to inquiries, and check status.
