Highmark Health Options West Virginia Launching July 1

With Highmark Health Options West Virginia (HHO WV), Medicaid beneficiaries in the Mountain state will have another option for their health care, effective July 1, 2024. Medicaid-eligible residents in West Virginia can begin enrolling in June.

Highmark Health Options West Virginia is the first Blue Cross Blue Shield managed care organization (MCO) to be approved by the West Virginia Department of Human Services, Bureau for Medical Services.

“I’ve worked with providers here since 1994. I’ve seen the challenges you have faced. And like your Medicaid patients,” continued Landers, “you know all too well the frustration of moving ‘one step forward, two steps back’ in their preventive and ongoing care. As a lifelong West Virginian, I’m passionate about moving health care forward for our state’s Medicaid members.”

In preparation for the July 1 launch, Highmark has been building a strong care network of hospitals and providers and establishing the foundation for a new health plan that leverages key insights from Highmark’s Medicaid plans in Delaware and Pennsylvania.
